Omoda 5 EV Unveiled at The Geneva Auto Show Qatar 2023

Introduced alongside Jaecoo as Chery's independent brand at the Shanghai Auto Show in April, Omoda took centre stage, revealing the Omoda 5 electric vehicle (EV) to the eager eyes of the public at the Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS) Qatar last Friday.

Omoda, aspiring to be the epitome of futuristic allure, dubs itself 'O-Fashion'. This unique concept marries technology-infused aesthetics with a touch of minimalism and a splash of futurism.

For the youth with a penchant for the electric pulse, the Omoda 5 EV boasts a 61 kWh battery fueling a robust 221 hp (165 kW) motor. It sprints from 0-100 km/h in a zippy 7.8 seconds, offering an efficient 15 kWh per 100 km and a hearty 400 Nm of torque. When it's time to recharge, a 35-minute pit stop catapults it from 0-80% SOC in style, granting a generous range of 450 km on a full charge.

Aerodynamically refined, the Omoda 5 EV flaunts a sleek front bumper that bids goodbye to traditional grilles, adorned with strategic contours for a smoother glide through the air.

Stepping inside reveals a captivating colour scheme: a sea of blue harmoniously contrasted by lively yellow stitching and subtle pale wood accents. The steering wheel proudly brandishes the Omoda emblem, while the contemporary dashboard hosts co-joined screens and cleverly angled phone slots.

Initiating the launch, Chery International Vice President, Shawn Xu, emphasized Omoda's role as a brand from the future, tailored for those with a taste for refinement and a youthful, dynamic spirit.

He stated that the Omoda 5 has demonstrated remarkable sales success since its debut, making significant strides in the high-end driver market, particularly in Europe. The introduction of the Omoda 5 EV is poised to fortify the brand's standing in the worldwide market.

Ever since its inauguration, Omoda has commanded substantial interest, boasting over 3 million online interactions and a staggering 3 billion hits across the digital landscape. Moreover, the brand has fielded in excess of 10,000 user inquiries.
