There are often times when we get to see mainstream automakers promoting the comfort and performance aspects of their cars. This is especially true for a brand’s new models, which have almost all their features promoted constantly. The next-gen Ford Everest is an all-new car for the blue oval in the UAE, wherein it is now available in its third-generation avatar.

Based on a similar platform that underpins the current Ford Ranger pickup, the new Ford Everest now offers buyers a plethora of modern features relating to towing and trailing applications. These features will be a big boon for those who want a midsize SUV that can not only tackle some rough terrain but also be a practical family transport.

Rugged but stylish

While the primary aim of this story will focus on the towing/trailing features of the new Everest, it would be unjust to not talk a little about the exterior design of the Ford Everest. It comes in at just over 2 meters in width and 1.8 meters in height, with a wheelbase that stretches 2.9 meters. It is right away apparent that, despite the ‘midsize’ genre that it is slotted into, the next-gen Ford Everest’s physical footprint is nothing to be scoffed at.

The Ford Everest is undeniably rugged-looking, but it also boasts several stylistic touches that make it look like a modern car. The front and the sides of the new Everest are adorned with plenty of chrome trimmings, helping prop up the SUV’s appearance. Similarly, C-shaped LED headlights adorn the front fascia, while the rear of the new Everest sports fancy LED elements within the taillights.

Customers can opt for official Ford accessories from the dealership, which further the Everest’s tough appeal. These accessories include usable carry bars on the roof, a rooftop tent, steel underbody protection, and a dedicated recovery point at the front. Further adding substance to this SUV’s exterior styling are its large 21-inch alloy wheels, fixed side steps, and high ground clearance.

Towing/Trailing capabilities of the next-gen Ford Everest

Getting back to our original topic, what makes the new Ford Everest such a capable hauler? It begins with the Everest’s 3.1-ton towing capacity, which means owners can quite easily lug around a boat, a trailer, or even another car – a smaller one, obviously. Of course, just raw towing ability will not be enough in this day & age. This is where the new Ford Everest’s chest of modern-day features comes into play.

There is a 360-degree camera system with a useful top-down view, while the reversing camera sports distance guides and dynamic lines to help maneuver the car in tight spots. The Ford Everest also gets a ‘hitch view’ button, allowing the driver to get a close-up view of the tow ball and trailer hitch receiver. Whether you are an amateur or someone who is experienced at towing, the new Ford Everest’s trailer connection checklist will be a useful add-on.

The next-gen Ford Everest gets the American brand’s Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) feature. BLIS utilizes multiple radar sensors to constantly monitor adjacent lanes for other motorists, while the system offers trailer coverage as it helps keep track of trailers that are up to 10 meters in length and 2.4 meters in width. For this feature to work as well as advertised, customers will have to create their own trailer profile within the Ford SYNC infotainment system.

Finally, the Ford Everest comes with Trailer Sway Control. This safety feature is an extension of the car’s electronic stability control system. Depending on the situation, the Trailer Sway Control system of the Everest will reduce engine power, and apply the brakes on each of the four wheels while also applying the trailer’s wheel brakes.

Commenting on the new Ford Everest’s trailer-friendly features was Andrew Gregory, Brand Marketing Manager for Everest at Ford Middle East. He said, "As temperatures drop across the Middle East, we're now enjoying the perfect weather for all things outdoor. Equipped with a suite of technology-enabled safety and convenience features, the Next-Gen Ford Everest has been engineered to give adventurers the tools they need for all kinds of excursions. Whether you're pulling a speedboat to the seaside or dragging your dune buggy to the desert, the Everest gives your gear true go-anywhere capability."
