New fines for vehicles with expired registration in the UAE

Police in Abu Dhabi are warning motorists over smart radars that will be installed across the emirate by 15th April 2018. The radars will be activated on internal and external roads of Abu Dhabi and will ensure that violators with an expired vehicle registration are fined AED 500, given four black points, and have their vehicle impounded for seven days.

This move aims to reduce the time and human efforts in traffic departments while strengthening road safety for motorists across the country. Brigadier General Ahmad Al Shehi, Deputy Director of the police’s Traffic Directorate, believes the new system will bring in positive results and drive motorists to follow vehicle licensing and renewal rules.
Police across the emirates of Abu Dhabi urge motorists to renew their vehicle registration and insurance from licensing entities to avoid a fine being generated before the 15th of April.
