INEOS, the British brand all set to launch its indestructible 4X4, the Grenadier is making giant leaps towards applying hydrogen in its vehicles and enhance the future of mobility. It has started a hydrogen advocacy campaign which seeks to herald a colossal revolution by democratising its uses for the households, industries and transportation. It explains that unlike EVs, which provide sustainable mobility for short distances, hydrogen element, if treated and its different forms used in the vehicles, will provide clean and renewable energy for long-distance trips without having to brook any compromises in range.

Such is their commitment to switch to hydrogen in the coming years that it seeks to double its investment to a gargantuan 2-billion euros in green hydrogen via this campaign. To publicise this one-of-its-kind campaign, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, INEOS’ founder and chairman published a detailed editorial in the Sunday Telegraph.

This publication was succeeded by a national media campaign covering several facets of mediums of communication such as billboard and digital advertising. While these might have become aging mediums, the most remarkable way adopted by the company to depict the use of hydrogen for all purposes is a green hydrogen-powered bus tour and being a part of COP26 at Glasgow.

He opines, “We believe that hydrogen is the fuel of the future and INEOS is determined to take a leading role in its development. When used in a fuel cell, hydrogen only produces water and is the UK’s best chance of reaching its carbon reduction targets”.

Filled with frisson for the off-road junkies who gourmand ultimate frolic is the news that a hydrogen-compliant Grenadier 4X4 is in the pipeline.

The brand perceives hydrogen as a clean source of energy and has a momentous part in reducing the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions. The brand has carried out a lot of research for using hydrogen in its future products where the market is inclined towards EVs and is also the largest producer of this element. It is the largest operator of electrolysis, which consumes easy to replenish energy and produces 400,000 tonnes of low carbon hydrogen every year displacing the requirement of 2 billion litres of diesel. It can make, transport, store and efficiently use hydrogen.

In fact, it has doubled its investment into the production of green hydrogen to a whopping 2-billion euros in Europe. To instil irrefutable trust in the masses for hydrogen, the company is conducting an advocacy campaign to divulge valuable knowledge about merits and uses of hydrogen.

Sir Jim further adds, “Electric cars are ideal for city centres and short journeys. But hydrogen is much better for longer journeys and heavier loads and that requires immediate investment in hydrogen distribution and hydrogen filling stations.”

New to the game are hydrogen fuel cells to join the brawl against EVs and take part in sustainable mobility solutions offering an even better alternative to oil-burners and gasoline products. The Grenadier hydrogen fuel-cell will commence its trials by the end of 2022 to assess how to effectively leverage this platform and gain amazingly out of it.

The company asserts that taking a look at the bigger picture, highly sophisticated but reliable and eco-friendly hydrogen contraptions will be used in home heating space where natural gas will be obliterated by a solid 2/3rd and this would be compensated by hydrogen. This would also mean less carbon compound emissions and an eco-friendly way of life.

The company is also investing in the production of blue hydrogen through which carbon will be stowed without being impetuous. Even if it is stored underground, it wouldn’t cause any environmental hazard.

However, Sir Jim also lashes the UK government with a caveat, ““The issue is that industry can only do so much, and the UK government must start to invest in the development of our hydrogen infrastructure to allow the gas to be much more widely used. At the moment we are massively lagging behind Europe and the gap is starting to grow”.

The internal combustion engines will provide a solid footing to the Hydrogen-run iteration of the Grenadier when it is launched and has signed a partnership pact with powertrain engineering specialist, AVL to contrive the Grenadier FCEV Concept.
