Hidden Gems of UAE: 1975 Mercedes 250SE

We thought about doing something different this week. So, let’s go back into time and check out the golden age of cars. There is a niche market of collectibles in UAE and some owners do like to keep their cars spruced up to fetch the right price. After all, to them these are not mere piece of machinery instead these symbolic automobiles are the prized possessions.

So, after hunting through Ras Al Khor district – the biggest used car lot in whole of Dubai, we come across this little gem from Mercedes. It is called the 250SE. Dressed in light brown/beige, this long automobile has been kept in mint condition by the used car dealer.
Coming to the history of this car, the 250SE is part of the the Mercedes-Benz W114 and W115 series of sedans and coupés introduced in 1968 by Mercedes-Benz. These models were manufactured till 1976 and they could be easily identified by their names as the name itself indicates the engine size. The W114 models were powered by six-cylinder engines and were tagged as the 230, 250 and 280. On the other hand, the W115 models were powered by four-cylinder engines and were tagged as 200, 220 and 240. There were only two models by Mercedes-Benz below the S-Class at that time (as compared to the current situation).
Since this is a 250SE, this car is powered by 2.5 liter inline-six engine producing 146 BHP. This engine is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. This model was part of the series of cars that debuted fuel injection system in Mercedes roster. Moreover, this model introduced the center-console in Mercedes-Benz cars for the first time.
So, as you can see, this is a pretty significant automobile in the history of this illustrious brand. Well, then, it is obvious that the seller will be charging a hefty price for this icon – AED 350,000. You can see this car for yourself at Maidan Motors in Ras Al Khor.
