The all-new Porsche Panamera is a welcome change in the German automaker’s line-up. While the previous model was pudgy and a little uninteresting aesthetically, the all-new model is a downright stunner with aluminium embellishing the roof, hood, boot and wings. Now sitting at 5,049mm long, the all-new Panamera is 34mm longer, 6mm wider and 5mm taller than its predecessor. With the front wheels shifted further forward and the rear overhang increased, the all-new Panamera bears a significantly more elegant and powerful presence. While the Panamera 4S can be recognised by its round tailpipes, the Turbo version sports instantly recognisable trapezoidal tailpipe trim.

Within the cabin, touch-sensitive surfaces replace classic hard keys and several digital displays flank the central analogue tachometer in the instrument cluster. The gearshift console between the driver and the front passenger is dominated by a 12.3-inch touchscreen of the new generation Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system. Controllable through the PCM are Porsche Connect, smartphone connectivity though Apple CarPlay and a new voice control system that responds to natural language input.

Also featured on the all-new Panamera is a thermal imaging Night Vision Assistant and Porsche InnoDrive. While the former uses a thermal imaging camera to detect people and large animals by displaying a colour highlighted warning indicator in the cockpit, the latter is the German brand’s take on auto-pilot. Based on navigation data and signals from radar and video sensors, InnoDrive computes and activates the optimal acceleration and deceleration rates as well as gear selections for the next three kilometres. In doing so, it automatically takes bends, inclines and speed limits into account.

The Panamera Turbo and Panamera 4S now feature new biturbo direct injection engines.  A V8 petrol engine that delivers 550 horsepower powers the Panamera Turbo, whilst a V6 petrol engine with 440 horsepower drives the Panamera 4S. The all-new Porsche Panamera is available for booking with the first UAE deliveries expected to commence in January 2017. Prices for the Panamera 4S start at AED 483,700 while the Panamera Turbo is North of AED 679,800.
