Quick Review

The Cabrio is the convertible version of the Mini, offered in Cooper, Cooper S and John Cooper Works trims. For 2012, the Cooper trim gets new standard wheels and some fresh customization options. The Mini Cabrio is an affordable small car that can nose its way into near-luxury if you plump for a lot of the appealing options available for this iconic vehicle.

The Fiat 500 is one of the Mini's more credible competitors and the 500c convertible version can give the Cabrio a run for its money. The 500c has the same nostalgic charm as the Mini, along with clever touches like its rounded head rests. It's snappy and fun to drive, but perhaps not quite as fun as the Mini. The 500's Gucci trim also comes in a convertible version; it's a bit more expensive than the Mini Cabrio, but very stylish. If it's iconic looks you're after, you might also look at the Volkswagen Beetle. The Beetle offers a convertible version with a turbo engine that's fun to drive and an appealing list of standard features.

The Mini Cabrio is a great small car for the budget-conscious shopper who doesn't want to break the bank but who is prepared to pay just a little extra for lively performance and iconic style.

The Mini Cabrio is an engaging ride, pairing guilt-free fuel economy with nippy, zippy performance that's comparable to much more expensive sports cars.
