Quick Review

The Nissan GT-R is a super-luxury sports car that offers a striking design teamed with exceptional performance. It can reach speeds of 315 km/h and goes from 0 to 100 km/h in around three seconds. Its twin-turbo six-cylinder engine delivers 485 horsepower and 570 Nm of torque in the Spec V edition; whereas the VVIP edition boasts 530 horsepower and 607 Nm. Fuel economy has also been improved for 2012. The 2012 model year has also had a few cosmetic tweaks to keep its attractive exterior looking fresh. The GT-R offers a surprising amount of cargo room for those longer trips, and is priced significantly lower than some of its competitors. However, the back seat is an afterthought and not very functional.

There are few cars to rival the Nissan GT-R, but you should check out the Porsche 911 Carrera. As well as the cachet of the Porsche name, the Carrera gives you a less controversial exterior and some very nice options. The Porsche is less practical, however -- it doesn't have the extra cargo space offered by the GT-R. It's also significantly more expensive, especially if you opt for one of the higher level trims.

The Nissan GT-R is a car for the luxury shopper who wants serious performance and excitement. As well as power and agile handling, the GT-R has just enough practicality. It's strictly a car for singles or couples only.

On the road, the 2012 Nissan GT-R is mindbogglingly impressive. The handling sparkles and there's plenty of serious power.
