Quick Review

The Australian built Chevrolet Caprice returns in 2013 with a range of technology, safety and performance upgrades. Most noticeable is a new V8 engine and some flashy extras such as Parking Assist and twin DVD players. But despite the Caprice’s reputation as a refined, decently priced family sedan, does it have the clout to rival others in its class?

First off, the Caprice’s design hides its large size with a surprisingly sleek and slim appearance, and the interiors remain a class-benchmark of quality finishing and conservative styling. On the road, the Caprice enjoys a decent sized engine under the hood, comparable to similar sedans such as the Hyundai Azera, Dodge Charger or the Chrysler 300C. It’s really only on the longer journeys that the Caprice gets its time to shine; this is a solid and well-handling car that’s a pleasure to drive on the highways, where its high levels of comfort also prove a real bonus. Few extras like the rear twin DVD players might seem superficial, but they’re a guarantee that the kids won’t get bored on longer journeys.

More importantly, the five-star safety features make the Caprice a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a safe and reliable family car. And when you combine this with impressive boot space and a spacious interior, the 2013 Caprice really carves out a name for itself as a high-end traveling car with good value-for-money and impressive quality. It might not be the most inspired sedan out there, but it’s an excellent choice for anyone looking for a roomy, comfortable ride.
