Volvo is redefining itself with the all-new XC90. It has built a brand new automotive platform called Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) which will be introduced first in the XC90 with other models to follow. This platform, which was developed over 4 years, will provide for new safety features, connected car technologies and alternative powertrains. As per Volvo spokesperson, 90 percent of components in XC90 are new and unique. This new chassis helps in weight reduction and removes design limitations. Moreover, SPA is helping the manufacturer in creating its first hybrid powertrain as well. For now, Volvo has teased with the first exterior photo of XC90.
