Introduced in 2004, the EcoSport was one of Ford's most sold automobiles until it was dropped in 2010. During its comeback in 2012, the EcoSport beat its then existing rival, the Renault Duster, by a significant margin due to its lower price.
Even though the 2017 Ford EcoSport may not be the absolute best in its class, it is a decent choice for a family car and someone with an adventurous lifestyle. Based off the Ford Fiesta, the EcoSport offers the convenience and practicality of a small hatchback with the capabilities and confidence of a taller vehicle.
Exterior
The EcoSport looks like an off-road automobile with its black lower portion and high ground clearance. However, its SUV relation ends there because it only comes with front-wheel drive. It was first released with a standard spare wheel attached to the hatch, but this has been made optional, retaining its side-opening back door. The overall design can take some getting used to, but it does allow a higher vantage point on the road.

Interior
Patterned after the Fiesta, the 2017 Ford EcoSport's dashboard looks familiar, with all the important controls easily accessible while driving. The plastics of the interior don't really impress but the space does provide for ample legroom. Although the seats are a bit narrow, it can still seat 5 people. The trunk has an abundant 346-liter capacity, making it great for out of town trips with the family.
Features
The 2017 Ford EcoSport gets high marks with its several safety features. It has 7 airbags, stability features, better brakes for emergencies, and safety reminders for seatbelt use. Transmission options are a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic. It also features USB connection, six speakers, keyless entry on some models, and cruise control.

Specs
The 2017 Ford EcoSport is available in three trims: Ambiente, Trend, and Titanium that ranges from SR 55,000 to SR 87,000. It only comes in a 1.5-liter, in-line 4 engine that generates 109HP and 142NM of torque. 0-100 km/h takes 12.3 seconds while top speed is capped at 170 Km/h.
Verdict
Functionality and practicality-wise, the 2017 Ford EcoSport is a good family car. It has everything you need plus other features that you will find very useful. If you want a simple, dependable mini-crossover to get you from point A to point B, this is it. However, if you are looking for more features, or something a bit more stylish, you might need to look elsewhere. Just be prepared to pay more as well…
