The X Trail is one of the most popular cars for families in Qatar due to its fuel economy, stylish exterior, and superior performance. The 2018 model represents the third generation of the car, with the first gen X Trail introduced in 2000. In Qatar it is available in three variants, including the base S, SL and SV and in 2WD and 4WD configurations, or a total of five versions.

Exterior

The redesigned exterior now boasts of the Nissan V-motion grille on its front end, as well as new LED headlamps that give the X Trail a distinctive look while providing the all-important increased visibility for more safety. Certain elements, such as the door handles, the rear exhaust tips and the front fog lamps, are enhanced with chrome to give them a touch of elegance.

Interior

Although Nissan claims to use premium materials in its cabin, the quality of materials is still left wanting. But this is more than made up for by its roominess and comfort, as well as the interior’s durability. The seats are designed using unique ‘zero-gravity’ principles to ensure utmost comfort even on long journeys, and you can choose between a five and seven-seater option. You also get ample cargo room of 1112 liters, which you can increase to 1980 liters by pushing down the rear seats.

The X Trail comes with a range of advanced safety features including a vehicle stability system, advanced SRS airbag system, cruise control and brake assist. Its electronic systems include an intelligent key, push button start/stop system and a steering wheel with tilt/telescopic controls plus mounted cruise control switches.

The X Trail boasts of a 2.5L engine that can produce up to 171 horsepower and 233 Nm torque. It has superior fuel consumption of 11.6 km per liter, which compares favorably with competitors like the Toyota Rav4 with 11 km/l and the Subaru Forster with 10.5 km/l. To ensure optimal driving performance, the X Trail includes intuitive 4x4 drive mode, which automatically adjusts the traction based on the terrain and driving conditions.

Verdict

Nissan X Trail 2018 Rear

Although the X Trail is often pitted against Toyota’s Rav4, there is no doubt that overall, the Nissan X Trail is the better car. Aside from being a good family car, it is also versatile enough to be used as a mild off-road vehicle if needed. It also has the edge in terms of price since the X Trail’s price range of QAR 85,000 to QAR 121,500 makes it more affordable than the Rav4.
