2017 Dodge Charger vs 2017 Cadillac CTS Comparison
Tags:
Buyers looking for a new mid-size sedan are spoiled for choice and rightfully so. This bustling segment includes cars such as the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord at one end, with luxury offerings such as the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes Benz E Class at the other. Meanwhile, offerings from America such as the powerful yet affordable Dodge Charger and the more luxurious Cadillac CTS, have gained much in their popularity.
Exterior
The 2017 Dodge Charger looks sleeker and more contemporary than ever before, without bartering any of its muscle car attributes. In comparison, the Cadillac CTS looks edgier with a handsome front, but is let down by a rather bulky rear-end.
Interior
The Charger’s cabin design won’t blow you away and looks stale in comparison to the CTS. The Cadillac CTS gets a healthy dose of leather, faux wood and piano black trims, and plenty of soft touch points throughout its cabin. It also comes equipped with auto climate control, an electronic hand brake, paddle shifters, and adaptive HID xenon headlamps. Meanwhile, the Charger comes equipped with a driver side knee airbag, active headrests and acoustic front windshield, which the CTS misses out on.
Performance
The 2017 Dodge Charger gets a 3.6-litre V6 that produces 292hp and 353Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The Charger hits 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds and top speed is 210 km/h. The Cadillac CTS, on the other hand, comes with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four banger that makes 272hp and 400Nm of torque. A 6-speed autobox drives the rear wheels and the CTS takes just 6.3 seconds to hit 100 km/h.
Verdict
With prices starting at AED 164,500, the 2017 Cadillac CTS offers luxury, good performance, decent cabin tech and a four-cylinder engine that’s powerful yet efficient. Starting off at AED 119,999, the Dodge Charger combines the looks of a modern muscle car with solid performance, and also happens to be practical and affordable.
