Quick Review
The new Volvo V40 is being introduced precisely when Mercedes A-Class is being introduced, launching a premium hatchback war which promises to be interesting. Apart from the European badge, the Volvo name carries with it world class safety standards and now, some fun driving of it's own.
The international V40 is a 2.5 liter turbo engine, however the GCC model comes in 1.6L and 2.0L turbo engines. Despite the smaller engine size, the acceleration is fantastic, particularly in R-Design where paddle shifters are included. Michelin Sport tires add to the excellent road grip and handling as well.
From the inside, a large panoramic moon roof adds to the opulence. Premium finishing with excellent equipment align with the mood. The R-Design adds a lot of sporty flavor to the proceedings. Last but not least the fuel consumption is very impressive. What's not impressive is the price tag which, while competitive with the A-Class might prove to be a hindrance for those who might think about a cheaper Volkswagen GTI.
